Fancies (2) - Vixi & Vini
Late Renaissance. Trumpets in C. British composer and church organist Michael East (1580-1648) is known as a composer of vocal music, madrigals, and church music, however his set of "Fancies" for instruments were quite popular in his time. Both of these fancies are idiomatic of the late Renaissance syncopations and contrapuntal textures. Vidi (I Saw) is written at a moderate tempo, and Vixi I Lived) is a faster Allegro.
